France Heatwave Kills 1,000

ParisFrance counted 1,000 excess deaths since June 24.

Public Health France said 85% were 65 or older; the sharpest rise was in Ile-de-France, where most died at home.

Figures are preliminary and likely an underestimate; final counts are expected in coming weeks.
