FDA Gene Therapy Director Exits

WashingtonVijay Kumar, acting director of the US FDA’s gene and cell therapy office, is stepping down.

The office has lacked a permanent director since FDA biologics chief Prasad ousted Nicole Verdun 14 months ago; it oversees the costliest therapies the FDA approves.

No replacement has been named; Prasad has set no timeline.
