Whales Speak In Dialects

AthensEastern whales click faster than western ones.

Researchers analyzed 5,291 click sequences and found whales near Greece’s Hellenic Trench developed their own tempo of the shared “3+1” call.

Scientists don’t yet know why eastern whales still occasionally revert to the older pattern.
