Algeria Orphanage Fire Kills 11

Algiers11 died before dawn in a child-welfare facility.

Civil protection evacuated 5 disabled residents but pulled 19 injured from the Mohammadia blaze, one of 913 fires Algeria has fought since a heatwave began July 8.

Authorities have not disclosed the victims’ ages or the fire’s cause.
