Senate Bill Adds Robot Command

Section 917 of the Senate’s FY2027 defense bill creates a new 4-star command to standardize military drone and autonomous-weapons adoption; analysts warn it duplicates existing functions and invites mission creep.

The provision heads to a full defense-bill vote alongside the Pentagon’s own plan to cut combatant commands from 11 to 8.
