Rescue Satellite Loses Control

DenverThe satellite sent to rescue Swift now needs rescuing itself.

Katalyst’s Link spacecraft lost two of three reaction wheels and began spinning on multiple axes, cutting power and blocking commands mid-mission to NASA’s gamma-ray observatory.

Engineers have halved the spin rate; a capture attempt is still planned for late August.
