Jamaat-e-Islami Threatens Shutdown

LahorePatience has run out, Jamaat-e-Islami emir Rehman said.

The levy funds Pakistan’s IMF-programme targets, so government cannot simply abolish it.

Unlike sales tax, the levy sits outside the divisible pool, so it isn’t shared with provinces.

Rehman says a nationwide strike date will be announced on Rabi-ul-Awwal 13.
