Masked gunmen in police uniforms stopped Fazal Shakoor Khan’s car near a Peshawar checkpoint and shot out its tyres, his staff said.
“Snatching away the right to peaceful political struggle is the height of fascism,” said provincial information minister Shafi Jan.
Police and the administration back the other side, a senior party leader says, and his location remains unknown.
