The logs were evidence of who viewed maternity files at a trust facing a failings inquiry.
A script written for a radiotherapy database was run on the maternity system by mistake, overwriting the record of who accessed files.
“At present, no crime has been identified,” said deputy chief constable Rob Griffin.
Nottinghamshire Police are still investigating whether the data loss affects the broader maternity-harms case.
