OpenAI Halves Sol, Luna Prices

San FranciscoOpenAI cut GPT-6 Sol’s input price to $2.

Luna now costs $0.10 per million input tokens, half its GPT-5.6 promotional price.

OpenAI says improvements in caching and inference lowered its serving costs, and it passes the savings to customers.

OpenAI’s own AutomationBench run puts Sol at 33.2% against Claude Opus 5’s 26.9%, at 9% of the cost.

GPT-6 Astra, launched earlier this month, remains OpenAI’s flagship above both tiers.
