San FranciscoZcash developers released Udon into the network’s shared cryptography library.

Verifying a private payment has been slow and costly, which kept financial privacy a niche use of blockchains.

Udon comes from Project Tachyon, the proposed scaling upgrade, and earlier work already cut proof-creation time from over 3 seconds to under 200 milliseconds.

Udon does not yet demonstrate Tachyon’s promised speed, and the upgrade still needs a security review before activation.
