Committee Seeks Wheat Floor

IslamabadA National Assembly committee wants a Rs5,000 per 40kg wheat support price.

The committee said Pakistan must decide before sowing because later decisions help farmers little.

Punjab is weighing Kissan Card support, Sindh aids growers with up to 25 acres, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will give Rs5,000 in kind.

Members said Passco’s closure leaves farmers few storage options, and private storage demands advance payments.

Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain says provincial consultations finish within a week and the policy comes before sowing.
