Cotton’s objection is stalling a bill that passed the House 308-117 in July.
The Sunshine Protection Act would keep daylight saving time year-round, and in the Senate it takes only one objection to block.
“Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark,” Senator Tom Cotton wrote on X.
Senators have no plans to return before the 3 November midterms.
