LondonA Conservative booklet’s £957bn net-zero cost appears to be double-counted.
The UK’s Climate Change Committee put the cost at £478bn in 2020 and £108bn in 2025.
The 2020 spreadsheet nets £1.38tn of investment against £0.90tn of savings, and the booklet’s figure appears to count both twice.
In 2020 the committee said the net cost was under 1% of GDP and investment would lift GDP around 2%.
