Chinese hybrid exports to the EU hit $7.5 billion in six months.

China’s hybrid sales in Europe now follow an arrangement based on their 2025 level.

Plug-in hybrids escaped the EU’s 2024 duties on Chinese-made EVs, so exports tripled from $2.5 billion a year earlier, customs data show.

EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic said the deal will cut imports by “several million cars over four years.”

Volume caps, price floors and carve-outs still await technical negotiation, Citi analysts say.
