BissauPolice sealed hepatitis B vaccine doses meant for a newborn trial.
The trial would have withheld the birth dose from half its newborns in Guinea-Bissau, experts say.
Ethics guidelines require the best proven care, and the WHO says that is a dose within 24 hours of birth.
Lead researcher Christine Stabell Benn said, “we considered the study scientifically and ethically justified.”
The researchers say they will not move the trial, and Danish authorities still investigate them for misconduct.
