Mendonça’s 2 Hapvida rulings came weeks after a Frankfurt seminar.

Hapvida vice-president Gustavo Ribeiro attended a Frankfurt seminar co-organised by Mendonça’s own Iter institute in March.

Two Hapvida cases reached Mendonça weeks later, and his rulings in both favoured the insurer over insured patients.

He had just cancelled a Spanish legal congress, citing impartiality, because a lawyer for banker Daniel Vorcaro would attend.

Mendonça left the Iter institute in September and leads the Master case investigations.
