Pakistan will scrap its 200-unit electricity cliff.

Crossing 200 units by one costs up to Rs33 a unit and six months of subsidy.

Solar owners capping grid use at 200 units pushed protected consumers from 10 million to 20-25 million, Power Minister Awais Leghari said.

Leghari offered two options: raise the threshold to 250 units, or drop the six-month bar.

He told the Senate the plan, with relief based on income, takes one and a half months to finalise.
