WashingtonHackers leaked about 40,000 Homeland Security staff records, sources say.
The data names several undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, sources confirmed.
A group calling itself Department of Peace claimed the hack, and the leak site Distributed Denial of Secrets published the data.
Its co-founder Emma Best said a search tool would “replace anonymity with accountability.”
The department has promised an update but has not said how the data left its systems.
