Nigerian States Raise Tax Take

Abuja23 states collected N2.2 trillion in six months.

That is 27% above last year’s N1.75 trillion, the Joint Revenue Board said.

A model law folds more than 100 state taxes and levies into 9 categories, and 21 states have adopted it.

The figures cover only the 23 states that reported, not all 36.

The board says ending illegal roadside levies, which raise food costs, will take time.
