Washington sanctioned Bolivia’s attorney general 2 days before his arrest.

Drop Site News reports Roger Mariaca had been investigating Fernando Cerimedo, a top aide to President Rodrigo Paz.

Charges centre on his ties to trafficker Sebastián Marset, and the US alleged he took bribes to facilitate narcotrafficking.

Presidential spokesman José Luis Gálvez calls the timing a coincidence, saying the probe dates to Marset’s March arrest.

Nadia Beller, who accused Cerimedo, told Drop Site she expects arrest as soon as Friday.

How each outlet framed it
Drop Site News leans critical
links the arrest of the attorney general to his probe of Cerimedo and frames the crackdown as a broader silencing of opposition and press
