A wheelchair user crawls into her hostel bathroom.

Nigeria’s 2018 disability law gave public buildings until January 2024 to add ramps and lifts.

The mid-1980s Village Hostel has no ramps or grab rails, yet residents pay a ₦5,000 facility improvement fee.

“I become even dirtier after coming out of the bathroom,” said Monica Joseph, a student using a pseudonym.

Vice-Chancellor Tanko Ishaya and disability commission chief Ayuba Gufwan have not answered questions about the hostel.
