Democrats Gain Crypto Subpoenas

WashingtonSenator Blumenthal’s letters ask crypto firms for records by 30 November.

Subpoena power arrives in January, with Democrats projected to hold at least 54 Senate seats.

Blumenthal will chair the Senate investigations subcommittee, whose letters warn that refusal by 4 January will bring alternative measures.

Ron Hammond of Wintermute expects Democratic subpoenas to be targeted, not aimed at the whole industry.

A market-structure bill would have to clear committees chaired by Elizabeth Warren and, likely, Sherrod Brown.
