Nigeria's currency, quoted as naira per US dollar. Africa's most populous country earns most of its dollars from crude oil and imports much of what it consumes, so the rate sets what fuel and food cost there.

Lately
The fortnight's news from Nigeria was about prices at home rather than the currency. The central bank restated its single-digit inflation target with headline inflation down to about 15% from about 35%, food inflation rose to 19.59%, and Abuja moved to negotiate a petrol price ceiling. None of it accounts for the rate.
