Singapore's central bank tightened its currency band again on 27 July, back-to-back tightening aimed at price risks — a currency-led policy that firms the Singapore dollar rather than raising rates, and one the index's bank-heavy composition absorbed on the way to its 29 July high. Shipping through the Gulf and Bab el-Mandeb has held steady through the run.
