Northwestern Medicine researchers identified a new mechanism Neisseria gonorrhoeae uses to dodge immune detection, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Untreated infection can cause infertility and sepsis; the finding points toward new drug and vaccine targets.
