WarraqAuthorities began new ferry construction Wednesday.
The move undercuts a deal residents accepted two days earlier to end their protest.
Warraq has no bridge, so authorities control every load of cement or rebar that reaches the island.
Residents say the new site is meant to stop them gathering during future disputes with Egypt’s security forces.
