Ethiopian Rebels Form Alliance

It threatens Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most-populous state, already bordering Sudan’s war.

Amhara Fano, the Oromo Liberation Army and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front joined four smaller groups to demand a transitional government.

“Those allied forces believe that they all face a survival threat from the government,” said Eyob Tilahun, an Ethiopian academic.

The government has not commented, and the alliance’s charter remains unpublished.
