Yemen Holds Taiz Lines

TaizYemen’s government forces held against Houthi assaults Thursday.

The Houthis need the mountains above Bab al-Mandeb to consolidate last month’s Red Sea coast gains.

Mountain terrain and heavier air, drone and artillery fire stalled the advance, leaving a battle over roads and supply lines.

Field commanders say the general mobilisation called 25 September has not yet brought reinforcements.

Officials say retraining reservists and volunteers is at an early stage, and no counteroffensive appears imminent.
