A 7-year-old boy in Khyber is Pakistan’s sixth polio case.

The national emergency centre confirmed it less than a week after the fifth, on 29 September.

Five of this year’s 6 cases are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4 in Bannu division, where security challenges threaten eradication.

A campaign that ended 27 September vaccinated more than 28.2 million children.

The polio programme plans a campaign giving oral and injectable vaccines to older children.
