Britain lobbied worldwide to repeal the UN’s Zionism resolution, news site Declassified UK reported.

Resolution 3379 passed in 1975 by 72 votes to 35, Britain against, with 32 abstentions.

Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd told lobbyist Sir Trevor Chinn on 8 January 1992 that Britain co-sponsored repeal, which passed 111 to 25.

“The result – although not perfect – was a very good one,” Hurd wrote.

The Green Party voted last week to recognise Zionism as racism, reviving the question in British politics.
