Sudan’s new cargo declaration adds dollar fees to shipments.

Importers say the fees raise consumer prices and further weaken the national currency in wartime.

Critics say an Emirati company, not the customs police, now collects the fees and sees shipments’ goods, sources, prices and timing.

“Information has become a weapon that can be leaked,” said customs expert Dafallah Abdullah Yousif.

Importers are asking the finance minister and customs director-general to cancel the rollout.
