New YorkTorture charges against Maduro and his wife could come Thursday, a US official says.
The US reportedly accuses Venezuela’s former government of holding Americans as leverage for sanctions relief.
US forces seized Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores in Caracas on 3 January, and Manhattan prosecutors charged them with drug trafficking.
Both have pleaded not guilty, and their lawyers have not commented on the new charges.
Flores asks Judge Alvin Hellerstein on Thursday for release on health grounds, which prosecutors oppose.
