GurgaonResidents say 50 plainclothes police sealed Dhruv Rathee’s housing society.
Police detained Rathee before a Delhi protest over 130 million voter deletions, Drop Site News reported.
Police said prohibitory orders were in force, the protest lacked permission, and he was detained preventively after ignoring warnings.
“But I would call it kidnapping,” Rathee said in a video after his release.
No one has independently verified Rathee’s allegations that police assaulted him and mistreated his parents.
