Norway fined Microsoft’s Xandr €8.5 million over Grindr data.

Norway’s data protection authority rejected Xandr’s defence that Grindr had collected users’ consent.

In real-time bidding auctions, Xandr passed Grindr users’ data, which can reveal sexual orientation, to potentially thousands of firms in 2018-20.

The authority says thousands of people in Norway alone were affected.
