Kyrgyzstan’s homegrown satellite appears to be run by the UAE.

President Sadyr Japarov said the launch ends dependence on other countries for farmland and weather data.

Bishkek said a 5-kilogram nanosatellite, built by two local firms on largely Russian technology, launched on a SpaceX rocket on 1 October.

Reports a day later added a UAE partner, and a 5 October notice named it Altair.

Kyrgyzstan’s new monitoring center will receive the satellite’s data through the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy.
