40,000 tonnes of Russian diesel are bound for New York.

It is the first Russian diesel bound for the US since the 2022 import ban.

The 298,000-barrel cargo covers about 7.8% of one day’s US demand and, LSEG data show, arrives 7 November, four days after the midterms.

The Kremlin confirmed the tanker sailed but did not say whether the cargo is bound for the US market.

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak says shipments rise to 500,000 tonnes in November and 1 million in December.
