Baidu’s AI agent turns residents’ group chats into work orders.

The Qiaokou district pilot covers 1 million people, and no report says whether residents consented.

The agent analyses posts in neighbourhood grid chats and sends the resulting work orders to the street office, Baidu said.

China’s National Data Administration says daily token use passed 140 trillion by March, over 1,000 times early 2024.

Whether residents can opt out of the analysis is unanswered.
