Tesla sold 11,586 Cybertrucks in nine months, Cox Automotive estimates.

Elon Musk had promised 250,000 to 500,000 a year.

Musk said on X that Tesla will wind down the line around mid-2027 to make room for Cybercab robotaxi production.

“Cybertruck was an incredible technology development platform and lives on through Cybercab,” said Wes Morrill, its lead engineer.

Musk did not say whether Cybertruck production moves to another plant or ends.

How each outlet framed it
Financial Times News leans critical
frames the exit as a product flop, citing Cox's 11,586 sales (down 28%) and the earlier S and X cuts
The National leans critical
contrasts the $39,900 launch price with a $100,000 peak and a failed durability test, estimating sales at up to 50,000
