Turkey Cedes Bashiqa Base

BaghdadUp to 600 Turkish soldiers’ base will pass to Iraqi control.

Iraq has called the deployment a violation of its sovereignty since 2015.

Turkey set up the Bashiqa base near Mosul in December 2015 through an agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The statement sets no handover date, but commits both sides to end outlawed armed groups’ presence in Sinjar.
