Iran Nears Russian Gas Deal

TehranIran says Russian gas talks are in final stages, Iranian state news agency Mehr reported.

Caretaker oil minister Hamid Bovard gave no volume, price or route for the agreement.

Officials estimated in 2025 an initial 1.8 billion cubic metres a year via Azerbaijan, rising to 55 billion.

The national gas company’s managing director said in June that pricing and payment terms were unresolved.

Presidents Pezeshkian and Putin are due to meet in coming days at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit.
